Geographical location
Chita region is situated in Zabaikalie. The region borders on Mongolia in the south, on the republic of Buryatia in the south-west and the west, on Irkutsk region in the north-west and the north, on the republic of Sakha and Amur region in the north-east, on China in the south-east and the south. Chita region has boundaries with Aginsky Buryatsky okrug.
In the region there are a lot of lakes and mineral springs.
The climate is sharp continental.

Centre of the region is the town of Chita. It was founded in 1851.
