Geographical location
Tomsk region is situated in the south-east of the West-Siberian plain. Tomsk region borders on Kemerovo and Novosibirsk regions in the south, on Omsk region in the south-west, on Khanty-Mansyisky autonomous region in the west, north-west and the north, on Krasnoyarsk region in the north-east and the east.
Main river is the Ob with its tributaries.
The climate is continental.

The region is divided into 16 districts, 4 towns of the regional submission, 14 town settlements, 199 villages.
Centre of the region is the town of Tomsk. It was founded in 1604.
Distance to Moscow is 3,500 km.
