Rostov area
Geographical location
Rostov region is situated in the south of the East-European plain. Climate is temperate continental. Main rivers are the Don and the Northern Donets. The large lake - the Manych-Gudilo. In the region there is State Steppe Sanctuary, resorts "Manych", "Veshensky".
Administrative division
Rostov region was founded on 13 September 1937. The region is divided into 43 districts, 23 towns, 25 town settlements. Regional centre is Rostov-on-Don.
Area of the region is 100,800 sq. km. Population is 4,404 thousand people.
