Novosibirsk area
Geographical location
Novosibirsk region is situated on the West-Siberian plain. It borders on Altay region in the south, on Kazakhstan in the south-west, on Omsk region in the west, on Tomsk region in the north, on Kemerovo region in the east.
Main river is the Ob. There are a lot of lakes and marshes. 1/5 of the territory is covered by forests.
The climate is sharp continental.

It is divided into 30 districts, 6 towns of the regional submission, 8 towns of district submission, 20 town settlements, 408 villages.
Centre of the region is the town of Novosibirsk, founded in 1903. Distance to Moscow is 3,191 km.
