Krasnodar territory

Geographical location
Krasnodar region is situated in the north-western part of the Caucasus. It borders on Rostov region in the north, on Stavropol region in the east, on Abkhazia in the south. The southern and the western boundaries of the region are washed by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The Republic of Adygeya is a constituent of the region. Krasnodar region is often called Kuban like the river of the region.

Natural resources
The region is the real natural park, where different plants grow. Fauna of the region is quite diverse.
Climate varies from temperate continental to subtropical.
There are reserves of oil, gas, marble, limestone, gravel, sand, iron ore, salt. In the region supplies of mineral waters have been found.

Administrative division
Krasnodar region was founded on 13 September 1937. Its area is 76 thousand sq. km. The region is divided into 38 districts. There are 15 towns of regional submission, 11 of district submission, 24 town settlements, 362 villages.
Centre of the region is Krasnodar. Distance to Moscow is 1,539 km.
Main towns: Krasnodar, Sochi, Novorossiysk, Armavir.
