Amur region

Geographical location
Amur region is situated in the south-east of the Russian Federation. It borders on China in the south, on the Republic Sakha in the north, on Khabarovsky region in the north-east, on Jewish autonomous okrug in the south-east. In the northern part of the region there is the Stanovoy range, in the south - ranges of the Yankan, Tukuringra, Soktakhan. About 2/5 of the territory is occupied by the Zeisko-Bureinskaya and the Amursko-Zeiskaya plains. Main rivers are the Amur, the Zeya, the Burea. The climate of the region is sharp continental.

Administrative division
Area of Amur region - 363.7 thousand sq. km. The region is divided into 20 districts, 7 towns of regional submission, 2 towns of district submission, 27 town settlements, 282 villages. Population of the region - 1,015,6 thousand people. Density of population - 2.9 persons per sq. km.
Centre of the region is the town of Blagoveshchensk. It is situated between the rivers the Zeya and the Amur. The town was founded in 1858. Population of the town is 216.7 thousand people. Distance to Moscow - 7,985 km.

Culture
Unique monuments of nature, peculiarities of flora and fauna determine preconditions for development of international tourism with attraction of foreign investments.
In Amur region there are 2 state sanctuaries, 2 reserves of the republican meaning, 20 reserves of the regional importance, 123 natural monuments, botanical gardens, rare species of animals and plants.
